Wednesday Basketball

This year, we’re introducing basketball to our programme—an exciting opportunity to explore what many consider Slovenia’s unofficial national sport. The course is designed for children aged 6 to 11 and focuses on building core motor skills, coordination, and confidence through structured yet enjoyable sessions. Children will learn the basics of dribbling, passing, shooting, and movement, while also developing teamwork and a sense of fair play. Sessions are adapted to age and experience level, with an emphasis on learning through play and active participation, not competition. No prior experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to move.

Course Provider

Kansai Helios Domžale is one of Slovenia’s leading basketball clubs—and current national champions. Their basketball school has a strong track record in youth development, supported by certified coaches who deliver structured, age‑appropriate training programmes across multiple primary schools, reaching around 500 children annually. While their core activities have traditionally been based in Domžale and nearby areas, this year marks their first time offering lessons in Ljubljana—bringing their coaching experience and sporting spirit to a new generation of young players in the capital.

The Ljubljana programme is led by Gašper Papež, a seasoned coach with nearly two decades of experience at Helios Domžale, where he has overseen teams from U10 to U20 and currently heads the entire youth programme. He holds a FIBA Europe Coaching Certificate and has coached multiple Slovenian national youth teams. Gašper has worked with young talents who went on to represent Slovenia internationally, and brings deep expertise in both technical training and youth development.

Pricing & Registration

Registration is accepted on a first come first serve basis. In case of oversubscription to either of the days, parents may be transferred to a different slot, or be asked to relinquish one slot.

Pricing is:
€ 40.00/month for twice per week
€ 27.00/month for once per week

The provider will invoice parents directly. Payment of an entire semester at once is preferred, but monthly instalments are possible.
